----------------------

With more than 540,000 inhabitants, Nuremberg is the second largest city in the Free State of Bavaria. In addition to the historic old town, which is a popular tourist destination, Nuremberg is a high-tech, industrial and innovative service location. A dense public transportation network of buses, trams and the subway ensures fast, handicapped-accessible and environmentally friendly mobility. This needs to be expanded further. For example, the north of Nuremberg is to be connected to the tram system with the Stadt-Umland-Bahn.
