This is us!
We are the Zweckverband Stadt-Umland-Bahn and were founded by the three cities of Nuremberg, Erlangen and Herzogenaurach as a joint organization. Our tasks are the planning, construction and operation of the Stadt-Umland-Bahn – currently one of the largest tram projects in Germany. Together with you we want to create a sustainable transport alternative for the region – our StUB!

Our office
Our office is in Erlangen (Nürnberger Straße 69). It is headed by Mandy Guttzeit (Managing Director), Daniel Grosse-Verspohl (Commercial Director) and Dr. Stefan Opheys (Technical Director).

The decision-making bodies of the Zweckverband are the Zweckverband Assembly and the Zweckverband Committee. The chairmanship of the Zweckverband changes every two years. The current Zweckverband chairman until December 31, 2024 is Dr. Florian Janik, Mayor of the city of Erlangen.
The Zweckverband Assembly
The Zweckverband Assembly consists of nine people:
- Marcus König, Lord Mayor of the City of Nuremberg
- Christian Vogel, Mayor of the City of Nuremberg
- Kai Küfner, City Councilor in Nuremberg
- Dr. Florian Janik, Lord Mayor of the City of Erlangen (Chairman)
- Jörg Volleth, Mayor of the City of Erlangen
- Josef Weber, Construction and Planning Officer of the City of Erlangen
- Dr. German Hacker, First Mayor of the City of Herzogenaurach
- Georgios Halkias, 2nd Mayor of the City of Herzogenaurach
- Dr. Konrad Körner, City Councilor in Herzogenaurach

The Zweckverband Committee consists of three people:

What is a Zweckverband?
A Zweckverband is a Special Purpose Association of cities or other public bodies in order to accomplish one (or more) tasks together. The legal basis is the Bavarian law on municipal cooperation. A Zweckverband is an independent body under public law, just like the cities themselves.
